My First Digital Accountancy Show as a Corporate Photographer in London

Stepping into the world of corporate photography at a large industry event is always exciting, but attending the Digital Accountancy Show in London for the first time felt particularly special.

This time, I wasn’t simply attending as a photographer. I was there to assist my husband, who was the videographer for the event, and it gave me the opportunity to experience the fast-paced world of corporate event photography from a completely different perspective.

A New Experience in Corporate Photography

Corporate photography is very different from the weddings, portraits and personal stories I’m used to capturing. At an event like the Digital Accountancy Show, there is so much happening at once. Speakers on all sides of the venue, smoke show, laser lights and tons of booths.

From exhibitors meeting potential clients and speakers presenting on stage to spontaneous conversations, networking and the energy of a busy exhibition floor, there are countless moments worth documenting.

The challenge is being ready for those moments without interrupting them.

That was one of the things I enjoyed most about the day. Rather than waiting for a perfectly posed photograph, I was looking for genuine interactions — a handshake, a laugh between colleagues, an engaging conversation or someone completely absorbed in a presentation.

Working Alongside My Husband

Having my husband there made the experience even more enjoyable.

We were able to work as a team, covering different areas of the event and making sure we didn't miss the important moments. Corporate events move quickly, so having two photographers can make a huge difference.

While he could focus on particular areas or key moments, I was able to look for those smaller, candid interactions happening around the venue.

It was also a great opportunity for me to learn from his approach to corporate photography and see how he works in an environment where you have to anticipate what is going to happen next.

Capturing the Energy of the Event

One of my favourite things about photographing corporate events is capturing the atmosphere.

The busy exhibition floor, branded displays, conversations between businesses, speakers on stage and people connecting with one another all contribute to the bigger picture.

I found myself constantly looking for ways to capture that sense of movement and energy while still creating professional images that businesses could use for their websites, social media, marketing and future events.

Behind the Scenes of Corporate Event Photography

One thing this experience reminded me of is just how much happens behind the scenes at a professional event.

As a photographer, you need to be aware of the schedule, understand where you need to be and anticipate important moments before they happen. At the same time, you need to remain approachable and professional while working around hundreds of people.

It can be physically demanding, too — there's plenty of walking, standing and carrying equipment — but seeing the final collection of images makes it worthwhile.

Looking Forward to More Corporate Events

My first Digital Accountancy Show was a fantastic introduction to the world of large-scale corporate event photography.

I loved the variety, the people and the challenge of documenting an event as it unfolded naturally. Most importantly, it gave me even more confidence in my ability to work within a corporate environment and contribute as part of a photography team.

Working alongside my husband made the experience particularly memorable, and I'm looking forward to photographing more corporate events in London and beyond.

Whether it's a conference, exhibition, networking event, awards evening or company celebration, there's something incredibly rewarding about creating photographs that allow businesses to remember — and share — the atmosphere of their event long after everyone has gone home.
